I have been a Registered Nurse since 2006. My journey started as an Associate Degree nurse. While I continued to work full time, I earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Over the next few years, I contemplated my next steps while working in inpatient critical care settings. Ultimately, I returned to graduate school and earned a Master of Science specializing in Adult Primary Care and a Master of Public Health specializing in Occupational Health and Safety. I began working as a Cardiac Nurse Practitioner in 2012 and spent three years in the role before leaving to become a Hospitalist Nurse Practitioner in 2015. In 2018 I returned to school where I earned a graduate certificate in Acute Care. I have continued to work as a Hospitalist and now lead our team of Advanced Practice Providers. Throughout my journey I became board certified in both Primary Care and Acute Care. I am also certified in Public Health. I train both students, new and seasoned Nurse Practitioners and mentor all levels of Nurse Practitioner and Physician Associate colleagues.
Now I am hoping to pass along the knowledge, skills and techniques to help both recently graduated and seasoned Advanced Practice Providers excel in the complicated arena of hospital medicine. I always say: "To be a great Hospitalist, we have to know a lot about a lot of things and be good at most of them!"
Ryan Guerrina, MS, MPH, ANP-C, AGACNP-BC
"Ryan helped me develop my interview and documentation skills for admission notes. I’m looking forward to using this knowledge for my career as a new grad hospitalist nurse practitioner."
“Ryan is above the rest! He is so knowledgeable and has a passion for teaching. He goes above and beyond to continue to learn and strengthen his already strong clinical skills. Everyone who works with Ryan knows how competent he is and with him on their team the sky is the limit!”
" He is such a plethora of knowledge— providing a written guide to the most common diagnoses and treatment, a stepwise approach to being independent, where to find resources and how to utilize them, and continuous teaching and coaching along the way. I highly recommend Ryan to anyone interested in strengthening their knowledge of the Hospitalist Nurse Practitioner role."
“I have had the pleasure of watching Ryan, teach and mold the incoming APRN classes to prepare them for their role in hospital admissions via “show one, do one”and even a personally created written manual. Ryan takes his time to impart the common and not so common differentials and work ups for internal medicine. As well as a personally structured training program for each individuals needs. Do not hesitate to use him as a resource in your training and education."
"…I met Ryan who knew his job was not going to be without a challenge, shaping a brand-new NP, like myself, into working like an acute care-prepared NP in 6 weeks. His mentorship & guidance would forever change my journey. His encouraging guidance helped me to gain #confidence, #invaluable insight, #sharpen essential skills that have transformed my daily practice & propelled my role to new heights. Ryan consistently seeks to improve his practice through dedication, compassion, and use of evidence-base practice to enhance patient care & outcomes. His superb clinical experience continues to inspire me daily."
